The Truth About Magic by Atticus

Hey, my fellow munchies! 👋🏻 I know it has been a while since I am on this platform and I miss you guys very much, it feels great to be back! (Can’t believe I have gone on a hiatus for almost 2 years!!) P/S How I’ve missed writing in general, penning down my thoughts in words and sentences as a way of conversing to you bunch on this site of mine.

Well, I had a lot of ups and downs in life for these past two years, and also have been caught up in managing work-life in general. Now I am much more myself and I’ve finally felt I have more time for myself to take a break and reflect. I have been on and off reading and my reading taste have changed slightly these past two years. I realized my attention span is getting shorter and shorter in terms of reading long and lengthy novels, hence, I tend to do speed reading but also avoid doing it so at the same time, as reading is a passion and enjoyment, not a chore — a way to take a break, time to wind down, relax and be in the zen zone. Thus, I am now reading both poetry and novels hand in hand or catching a short article or two to balance up and manage my short attention span on lengthy novels.

Fast forward (long story short) I’ve recently picked up a new interest — keeping a reading journal with me. I have always wanted to do it and this was also inspired by a few bookish buds of mine who I knew through the bookstagram community. Honestly, I’m enjoying it, it helps me to keep track of my reading progress and how I feel about reading a particular book, it honestly warms my soul when I’m writing down my feelings about what I read.

Without further ado, let’s get into the review section, shall we?

Book Blurb:

The Truth About Magic builds on the pains and joys of romance explored in Love Her Wild and the New York Times bestseller, The Dark Between Stars—heartbreaks and falling in love, looking back and looking inwards—by taking a fresh, awakened journey outward. An adventure into the great unknown. It’s about finding ourselves, our purpose, and the simple joys of life. It’s about lavender fields, drinking white wine out of oak barrels on vineyards, laughing until you cry, dancing in old barns until the sun comes up, and making love on sandy beaches.

The Truth About Magic is a vibrant, transcendent journey into growth, which will leave you energized and eager to explore the wider world.

My thoughts on The Truth About Magic

Since the day I’ve picked up poetry, there’s a strong feeling that I have felt these poets have transformed my voice in my head from a few letters to a string of words to form beautiful prose. A feeling that someone who understands and knows how you feel.

“The Truth About Magic” is one of those poetries that’s magical and unique in its own way. I feel each of the chapters really has its own representation. From drawing fantasy to reality to a collection full of strong emotions and sentiments.

P/S I always find myself having a hard time reviewing poetry because the emotions you have for each piece are really that hard to describe sometimes because it can be that raw and in one way or another even no words can do them justice at times. Honestly, this review has been sitting in my drafts for a few weeks (haha) If you ever happen to pick this book up, enjoy it and read it with some music playing in the background.

Rating: 4.25/ 5 ☆

Thanks for reading this far! See you in the next post! =)
